On Writing…
This week I have done some pretty great writing. However, the thing about ‘great writing’ is that it is exactly that until someone critiques it. They are never easy to take:critiques. We write our ‘little darlings’ and we think…great, I have nailed it this time..really great work! And then someone comes along and tells you, actually, it is not that great. It really can be a killer: that. But, if there’s one thing I’ve learned from Stephen King’s ‘On Writing’ it is this…and I paraphrase…if you want to be a good writer be ready to murder your little darlings.
On that note, to all those wishing to write I say…good luck but…be prepared to ‘murder your ‘little darlings’.
